NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Country singer Morgan Wallen recently spoke out about his actions following his arrest nearly two weeks ago for allegedly throwing a chair off a downtown Nashville bar’s rooftop. The incident led to felony charges against the singer.
According to police records, the event occurred in front of Chief’s on Broadway around 11 p.m. on April 7. Officers at the scene reported seeing a chair descending from the rooftop, narrowly missing two police officers by approximately three feet.
Bar security identified Wallen as the individual who threw the chair. Surveillance footage confirmed Wallen appeared to throw an object from the rooftop, a venue located six stories above the street.
Eyewitnesses claimed they saw Wallen lift and hurl the chair over the edge while appearing to laugh about his actions afterward.
Wallen faced multiple charges, including disorderly conduct and three counts of reckless endangerment—addressing the potential harm to the nearby officers and the public. He was detained and booked into Metro Jail early on April 8, and was released a few hours later. Wallen’s legal representative stated that he was “cooperating fully with authorities.”
In a recent statement on X — the platform formerly known as Twitter — Wallen expressed his regrets: “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”
He added, “I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change. -MW”
